Mentoring Freedom with Roma Hammel, PhD

Living in the subtle, spiritual ground of our being as messy, unique human beings

Part Five of the Nondual Embodied Mentoring Program • Continues from Mentoring Love

“Because our essence pervades our whole body, to become attuned to it means that we become alive throughout the whole internal depth of ourselves. To live in the subtle, spiritual ground of ourselves is to arrive at our own wild existence.”

The Invitation

How do we arrive at what Judith Blackstone calls our own wild existence — to live in the subtle, spiritual ground of our being as messy, unique human beings?

We know how to make deep contact. We know how to become more present, more authentic. And yet we still forget how to live with an undefended heart.

Drawing on the Realization Process and Judith Blackstone’s The Enlightenment Process: A Guide to Embodied Spiritual Awakening as precise phenomenological maps, this course explores a simple and radical question: Can we, together, deepen into what is alive?

Each session unfolds through whole-cohort inquiry, breakout-room exploration, and integration group practice. Together, we explore how contact with the ground reorganizes perception, action, and expression from the inside out.

Contact with the ground unbinds our body, stills our mind, and frees our heart for direct, mutual resonance and authentic expression. Learning the basic language of all beings, we trust the subtle signs of our own path.

Even when anger, fear, and grief are present, we are free to love.

What You’ll Explore

                • Living in the subtle, spiritual ground of your being
                • Experiencing life directly through clear perception and embodied presence
                • Uncovering the essential self and releasing identification with the false self
                • Healing bound pain through contact with your undamaged core
                • Allowing perception, action, and expression to reorganize from the ground itself
                • Discovering the freedom to love within everything that arises

Sessions 1–2 | Awakening • Direct Experience • Clear Perception
Coming alive within your own skin. Experiencing life directly. Truly seeing, touching, hearing. Receiving the world just as it is.

Sessions 3–5 | Essential Self • False Self • Selflessness
Feeling real. Discovering the essential self as vividly alive. Allowing the false self to dissolve. Becoming boundless without erasing yourself.

Sessions 6–7 | Healing • Bound Pain • Undamaged Core
Sensing what is still held. Contacting childhood consciousness. Letting the fist open to reveal the hand.

Sessions 8–10 | Distance • Intimacy • Detachment
Living in the core of your body. Finding another’s core from your own. Opening without losing yourself. Letting life move through.

Sessions 11–13 | Embodiment • Senses • Movement
Experiencing the body as conscious internal space. Seeing with the whole eye. Breathing the air that is here now. Moving with your fundamental being.

Session 14 | Becoming Real
Meeting in fundamental consciousness. Learning the basic language of all beings. Retaining your human right to sing the blues. Trusting the subtle signs of your own path.

Mentoring Freedom is an advanced course designed for those who have already established a living relationship with fundamental consciousness and who seek to deepen their experience of living in the light of consciousness as messy, unique, fully human beings.

The course is intended for graduates of Mentoring Love, members of the Mentoring Team, and a small number of other experienced Realization Process practitioners.

Each session spirals through awakening, healing, and freedom.

We begin by glimpsing the ground — tasting emptiness and presence as our actual nature.

We then turn toward the holding patterns, bound emotions, and protective constrictions that limit our contact with ourselves, others, and life itself — places where thinking cannot reach, and where love and compassion open what understanding cannot.

From there, we explore how a radically different way of living and relating becomes possible — as perception, action, and expression begin to arise from the ground itself.

The reading and meditations for each session are in the private portal, available before and after each session whenever the inquiry calls. Please spend time with them before we meet.

Please arrive five minutes early to each session, meditating in your heart chakra, so the body can settle, the mind can become clear, and the eyes and ears of the heart can open.

Each live session begins with a somatic movement or gesture — whatever is alive in this moment. From there, we move into an Opening Meditation Arc, silent time for expression through words or images, a Garland of Connection, and Open Space, where what is alive in the field can be named and received.

The final hour of each live session is devoted to somatic inquiries, fishbowls, and breakout rooms — embodied inquiry in relationship, in the living field between us.

Between sessions, your Integration Group meets as a small circle of three or four, steady throughout the course. Something deepens here that cannot be planned.

Read

Before each session, read the assigned pages from The Enlightenment Process. Read slowly. Let your whole body sense the words. Circle passages that touch you — that inspire, challenge, unsettle, or illuminate something in your body and life.

Bring your marked-up text to your integration group.

Meditate

Meditate 30 or more minutes daily, practicing the meditations assigned for that session. Return to your favorites again and again.

Reflect

After practicing, sense:

  • What impact does this meditation have on you today?
  • Which inquiry feels most alive in you right now?
  • How does the reading relate to your actual life?

A Collective Descent into Truth

Spontaneous words — Mentoring Love, April 2026

Each voice:

                  • reveals something real
                  • the next voice receives and deepens it

Feel the threads:

                  • cleanness → safety → belonging
                  • jumbled mind → still held in the field
                  • anger → tenderness → inclusion
                  • restlessness → space holding it
                  • grief → stillness underneath
                  • tiredness → release
                  • not wanting to be here → still belonging

And “we still belong” to the unified relational field.

“Everything is welcome. Everything is welcome. Everything is welcome.”

Reflections from Judith

“I think this is wonderful. I so much appreciate your building on and deepening what they have learned in their training. I also love that the course expresses what has been most meaningful, most true, to you in the work, and gives them a way to find what is most meaningful for them.

My vision for the post-certification courses was that new teachers have a chance to learn from very experienced teachers what has been most important, and most transformative, for them, – the alchemy of their own personality and history with what I have taught — as well as how they have each brought it out into the world, and I think you have managed to do that beautifully.”
